Ed joined the Heinl Company in 1991 after working in music retail and performing as a singer/songwriter and accompanist for many years. At about the time he started at Heinl's he went on a sabbatical from playing music and found another outlet for his creative impulses in the form of painting. This was a renewed passion which had been left unattended since his early teens, but which quickly became a source of great artistic fulfillment for him. His main interest is painting people but he also does urban landscapes and interiors. In recent years, he has taken up playing music again at the prompting of his good friend and co-worker Jeff Cardey. They currently perform as a duo in which Jeff plays mandolin and Ed plays the tenor guitar. The collaboration is proving to be very successful and a lot of fun. Ed lives in Toronto with his wife Susan and their four cats.
